Pendle Farm, Worsthorne: the last homes are lived in
This month the final homes in the barn at Pendle Farm, Worsthorne, were handed over, and the last households have moved in. Pendle Farm is now complete: 33 homes on Ormerod Street, at the edge of a village we have come to know well. Our new homes are at Birchley Fold, Silsden.

Planned around the view
Planned around the view
We planned Pendle Farm around its far-reaching views across open countryside. We built the homes in random stone with slate roofs, and ran estate-style fencing through the development so it reads as part of the farmland around it.
Rebuilding Butcher’s Barn
At the heart of the development is Butcher’s Barn, which dates from around 1630. We rebuilt it as five homes, keeping its original features and its own stone. Where new stone was needed, we laid random stone alongside the original, so old and new read as one building.
The barn homes were the last we handed over at Pendle Farm. It feels right that the oldest part of the site was the last to be finished.

Family built, with heart.
What the people living there say
Dave moved into The Dairy, Plot 33, one of the five barn homes, after 30 years in his previous house. The first thing he talks about is the stone. “It’s the stone, particularly. There are little imperfections in it which I really like.”
He also noticed the quiet. “Here, it’s just silent, even at eight o’clock on a Monday morning.”

Thank you
Thank you to every household at Pendle Farm for choosing to make your home with us. Thank you too to the site team and trades who built it. We hope you enjoy many years in Worsthorne.
