As of 1st January 2026, Poppy has stepped into her new role as Marketing &amp; Sales Assistant,  a promotion that reflects not just her growing skillset, but also her place within our team.
In just under two years with us, Poppy has developed with quiet confidence. Her understanding of our brand, her attention to detail, and her willingness to learn have grown naturally over time, and she now plays a pivotal role in supporting both our marketing and sales activity. The tree itself is from Balsam Hill. It’s an investment, but one that’s now in its fifth year and still looks as good as the day it came out of the box. Top tip: Caroline bought hers in the Christmas sale.

This way of decorating reflects a wider philosophy in how we design our homes. We believe the quality of a house should speak for itself. We don’t believe in overpowering schemes that distract from good architecture, natural materials, or thoughtful craftsmanship. Interiors should quietly enhance a space, allowing proportion, light, and detail to do the heavy lifting.

A natural stone collection of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes, nestled alongside the canal in Silsden, West Yorkshire, The Willows has now reached a significant milestone: the final home is complete, and all 49 properties are now occupied.
Set within a peaceful corner of Silsden and bordered by open farmland and the canal, The Willows was thoughtfully designed to balance countryside calm with modern, day-to-day convenience. Despite widespread assumptions that the industry is “making crazy amounts of money,” Sarah reiterated the truth: SMEs like ours are feeling the strain, navigating rising costs, complex regulation, and decreasing support for both builders and buyers.

Sarah Discusses the Autumn Budget on BBC Radio 5 Live

&#8220;It’s hard to believe how much the company has grown. But in some ways, through my daughters, I still feel as close to it now as I did when it began.
From the very beginning, I stood beside Brian as he poured everything into this business. It wasn’t just work for him,  it was something he lived and breathed. He cared deeply about the homes he built, the people who bought them, and the teams who made them possible.
I listened to every idea, every frustration, every big dream. We shared in the highs and the lows, and I always knew how much this company meant to him. It’s always felt like an extension of our family
Some of my favourite memories are the Saturdays we’d spend visiting our developments with Sarah and Caroline, muddy boots, site cabins, and a sense that something important was being built, not just in bricks and mortar, but in values and pride.

He also believed that the right kind of development could improve more than individual lives, it could breathe new life into a whole place. I remember how proud he felt when we turned something forgotten into somewhere families wanted to live again, and how that helped the school, the shop, the pub. He saw homebuilding as a way to strengthen communities, not just grow them.
I still knit the dishcloths that go into every home, a small gesture, but one that feels personal. Something made with care, by hand, like the homes themselves.
So to see the company take on a new name, Verity &amp; Co Homes, fills me with quiet pride. Not just because our family name is back on the door, but because of what it stands for. It’s a reflection of Brian’s legacy, yes, but also of everything Sarah, Caroline, and their team have built since.
It’s still a family business, but it’s grown in the best way. Thoughtfully. Honestly. With care.
I know Brian would be proud, not just of the name, but of <a href="https://www.verityandcohomes.com/our-purpose/our-family/">the people behind it. The “&amp; Co”</a> means something real. It’s for the team who believe in what they’re building, just as much as he once did.

We’ve thought about taking this step for years, and we’ll admit, it feels a little nerve-racking to finally share it. Mostly though, it feels like a natural reflection of who we are now, and the company we want to keep building together with our team.
Over the past year, we’ve strengthened our foundations, as a family, as a team, and as a company committed to building with even more care, clarity and purpose.
Our new name is a tribute to our father, Brian Verity, who built the first homes that set our standards nearly forty years ago. The “&amp; Co” is for our team, the people whose pride, craft and commitment carry his legacy forward. Together, the name reflects both where we’ve come from and the future we’re building towards.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">But this isn&#8217;t only about a new name&#8230;</h3>
It’s about making sure that from the very first time you discover us, you can see what makes our homes different. For years, many of our customers have told us they didn’t truly appreciate the quality of our homes until they stepped inside a show home. They were surprised, by the materials, the details, the feeling of care. With our new website, we wanted to bring that sense much earlier, so that your first impression online feels as close as possible to the real experience of walking through one of our homes.
Here’s what you can expect when you visit our new digital home:
Clarity: an easier, more intuitive way to find your new home. Authenticity: photography and film that show our homes exactly as they’re built. Stories: insights from our team and homeowners. Confidence: a sense of the craft and pride behind every decision we make.
In the days ahead we’ll be sharing more about the values that guide us. For now, we simply want to say thank you — to our team, to our homeowners, and to everyone who has been part of our journey so far.

A New Chapter: Verity & Co Homes

Easily spotted in our high-vis vests, a fitting nod to our life as homebuilders, The Baaaarmy Builders and Caffeine &#038; Concrete threw themselves (sometimes literally) into a line-up of farm-inspired activities. From sheep herding and egg catching to welly wanging, assault courses and even tractor driving, it was a day that tested teamwork, agility and good humour in equal measure.
Together with the other teams, we helped raise an incredible £4,600 for The Principle Trust, supporting their vital work providing free respite breaks for disadvantaged and poorly children across Yorkshire.
We’re proud to share that Caffeine &#038; Concrete secured a fantastic joint 4th place, while The Baaaarmy Builders followed closely behind in 6th, proof that what we lack in farming experience we more than make up for in enthusiasm.
Why It Matters
As patrons of The Principle Trust, and with our Managing Director Sarah Barraclough serving as a trustee, their mission is close to our hearts. Supporting their work for children and families across Yorkshire reminds us what community really means.
It was also a brilliant opportunity to bring our own team together. Days like this highlight the spirit that runs through Verity &#038; Co Homes, people who care, work hard and always find time for a little fun along the way.

Farm Adventure Team Challenge for Principle Trust

Holly, Architectural Assistant in the Pre Construction Department at Verity & Co Homes

Take Holly, who joined us as a Sales Assistant before moving into the Pre-Construction team. On Thursday, she graduated from her apprenticeship and now works as an Assistant Technical Coordinator, combining her studies with real, hands-on experience in how our homes are designed and delivered.
“For me, the apprenticeship has been a huge confidence boost,” says Holly. “I’ve learned so much about the design process and I’ve been able to put my knowledge from college straight into practice. It’s really rewarding to see my work make a difference on live projects.”
Her role has grown quickly. Holly now supports with drawings, works alongside architects and consultants, and helps prepare developments for build. Far from being ‘just’ training, her apprenticeship has given her trust, responsibility, and a chance to apply her creativity to real projects.
“I’ve felt really well supported by my colleagues,” she adds. “Whenever I’ve faced a challenge, there’s always been someone there to help me through it.”
Our Managing Director, Sarah Barraclough, is also passionate about opening doors for more women in housebuilding. Through her involvement with I am a Housebuilder, she continues to champion the importance of visible role models and opportunities for women in the industry — something that makes moments like Holly’s graduation even more meaningful.
As we look to the future, apprenticeships will remain a cornerstone of how we grow at <a href="https://www.verityandcohomes.com/">Verity &amp; Co Homes</a>. They allow us to share almost four decades of experience while creating pathways for the next generation to build meaningful, lasting careers in construction.
