Life in The Emily: Nigel’s Story at The Green, Glusburn

Six and a half years ago, Nigel and his wife stepped into The Emily – a four-bedroom home at The Green in Glusburn and instantly felt the family-friendly layout – a perfect first step onto the property ladder.

The Emily has adapted effortlessly to their busy routines with two children and three dogs. The kitchen is their favourite space — a place to eat together, catch up, and gather with friends.

“We’ve made it as homely and cosy as possible,”

Today, Nigel lives with his wife, son, daughter and three dogs, Tip, Bonnie and Ginny, with no plans of ever leaving. Their story is a testament to what happens when a thoughtfully designed home becomes truly lived in.

Finding “the one” before it even existed

The Emily

Nigel and his wife bought their home off-plan, guided by the vision, the setting and the sense of possibility that The Emily offered. Even then, the home felt exactly right: spacious, welcoming, and perfectly suited to their busy lifestyle with two children, three dogs and a love of hosting.

The moment they reserved their home is still vivid.

A house that brings everyone together

Ask Nigel which spaces mean the most, and he doesn’t hesitate – the kitchen and living room form the heart of their home.

They always eat together at the table when they can, and the open, family-centred layout of The Emily means those moments aren’t rushed or incidental.
He says. “It’s where everything happens.”

For a family that loves to cook, gather and catch up at the end of a long day, the generous proportions of The Emily continue to make life feel that bit more connected.

Designed for real family life

From busy mornings to muddy dog walks to sports kit and school bags, their home hasn’t just kept up, it’s supported them.

With four bedrooms, the space has adapted with them as the children have grown, offering room for an office, guests and the evolving routines of family life. And beyond the walls of the house, the development itself plays an equally important role.

The Green’s layout gives every home breathing room, something Nigel still appreciates.
“Even with almost 40 homes, you don’t feel overlooked or crammed in. The space has been thought about in great detail.”

Quality that’s evident every day

ix and a half years on, the pride they feel in their home hasn’t faded.

“The quality is top-class,” Nigel says. “Every detail has been thought about.”
The natural stone used throughout the development is still a detail they love — a hallmark of craftsmanship that grounds The Green in local character and long-lasting beauty.

Their journey from reservation to move-in was, in Nigel’s words, “smooth and pain-free,” supported by a team that made a memorable impression.

What “Home” Means Now

For Nigel, his wife, Ellie and Jake – and Bonnie, Ginny and Tip – home represents something simple and powerful: time spent with the people (and animals!) they love.
