A Place to Slow Down: Jane’s Story at The Alders, Skipton

For Jane, moving to The Alders marked the beginning of a new, calmer chapter – one shaped by comfort, reassurance, and the simple joy of having a home that truly works for her.

Jane reserved her home early, buying at foundation level after spotting the development on Rightmove. Originally, she had her eye on a different plot, but when circumstances changed and she secured her current Lark home instead, it quickly became clear that everything had happened for a reason.

“Looking back, I actually love the position of this home,”

Jane says. “Coming from a farming background, I’m used to open fields and space – and this one just feels more open, with better views. It suits me perfectly.”

A Home Designed for This Chapter

Designed for Living – and for Life

Living on her own, Jane didn’t need a large home, but she did need the right one. With grandchildren visiting regularly, space still mattered – and The Lark delivered.

From the outset, Jane knew an en-suite bedroom with a walk-in shower was non-negotiable. But there was also one very personal detail that sealed the deal.

“The lounge had to work for my rocking horse,” she laughs. “It’s sentimental, and it was an absolute deal breaker.”

With generous room sizes throughout, a dedicated dressing room, and a layout that feels both practical and indulgent, Jane describes the home as feeling entirely hers.

“Karen my Sales Advisor I can’t praise enough.”

A Buying Journey Built on Care

From reservation to moving day, Jane felt supported every step of the way. She speaks particularly fondly of Karen, her sales advisor, describing her as knowledgeable, attentive, and reassuring throughout the process.

“I was really looked after,” Jane says.“ The quality of the homes is unmatched. The stone is gorgeous – it’s full of life.”

Customer care continued well beyond move-in, too. With no issues to raise and a site team that always took time to be kind and personable, Jane felt genuinely welcomed into the community. She even joined the team for a charity tree planting day – a small moment that helped her feel connected to the place she now calls home.

Little Details, Big Impact

Some of the things Jane loves most about her home are the ones she didn’t expect.

“I didn’t even realise the stone was artificial,” she admits. “It looks so realistic.”

Her south-west facing garden enjoys sunshine throughout the day, keeping the kitchen-diner naturally warm and bright. The garden itself is larger than she expected – perfect for her little dog – and although Jane isn’t a gardener by nature, she’s planted wildflowers to gently encourage wildlife.

“It’s lovely seeing it all come to life.”

Community, Location, and Everyday Ease

Life at The Alders is calm and friendly, with a mix of young professionals and neighbours who look out for one another.

“It’s very quiet up here, and everybody is friendly,” Jane says. “I’m particularly close with my two next-door neighbours.”

The location fits seamlessly into her lifestyle – close enough to walk into Skipton town, with peaceful dog-walking routes, nearby parks, and easy access to family in Grassington. Regular walks with her neighbour have become part of her routine, grounding her days in simple pleasures.

Looking Ahead with Peace of Mind

As Jane prepares to retire next week, her home represents something deeply meaningful.

“I’ve lived a very, very busy life,” she reflects. “Now I can enjoy my home, my dogs, my books – my sanctuary.”

As a professional cleaner, Jane takes comfort in knowing her home is brand new, well-built, and easy to maintain. There’s no list of jobs waiting, no constant upkeep – just peace of mind and the freedom to enjoy this next chapter fully.

“I don’t have to worry about anything needing doing. I can just enjoy my retirement.”

What “Home” Means Now

For Jane, home is everything.

“It’s safety and happiness.”

And at The Alders, she’s found exactly that.
